钟馗的故事在我国流传已有一千多年的历史了,但今人对这个故事不很了解,我自己也是在排练《钟馗》一剧之后。才逐步了解的。记得1982年在北京电影制片厂拍《哪吒》的时候,有机会观摩了俞振飞先生带的昆剧团演出的《钟馗嫁妹》一剧。从那之后,使我对钟馗这个外形丑、内心美的人物有了浓厚的兴趣,产生了用河北梆子艺术塑造钟馗形象的欲望。当我将想法和剧作家方辰同志谈了之后,他亦有同感。就这样,他开始搜集创作素材,我便开始广泛地求师访友。我们为塑造钟馗的形象,做了大量的准备工作。
The story of Chungli has been circulating in our country for more than a thousand years, but nowadays people do not know much about the story, and I myself have been rehearsing the drama “Zhong Kui”. From then on, I had a keen interest in Zhong Kui, the ugly, inner-beautiful figure that created the desire to create the image of Zhong Kui with the art of Hebei clapper. When I talked about the idea and comrade Fangchen, he shared the same feeling. In this way, he began to collect creative material, I began to widely seek teachers and friends. We have done a great deal of preparatory work to create the image of Zhong Kui.
