随着农业合作化高潮的到来,农村扫除文盲工作有了很大的发展,目前全省已有569万8千多农民在紧张、愉快地学习文化,到处呈现着忙生产和忙学习的新气象。他们白天忙生产,晚上到民校学习,空下来就捉麻雀。他们认识到:搞生产没有文化是吃不开的。春节以后有许多县的入学人数有了很大的发展,例如南通、睢宁两县,由春节前的21万6千多人增加到46万2干多人,发展了一倍多。这些地方为什么发展这样快呢?主要是加强了领导,和妥善地安排了生产和学习时间,因而得到巩固与发展。
