氢火焰离子化检测器是除热导检测器外最重要的检测器之一。因其灵敏度高,死体积小、线性动态范围广,而且在某种程度上对操作的条件要求不太苛刻,因此很受人们欢迎,应用十分广泛。通常所说的氢火焰离子化检测器,指的是用氮气作载气的氢氧扩散火焰,它的性能已有大量的资料阐述,并正在为人们所掌握。但是,在此检测器中,以氢气作载气的报导所见不多。山东省化学石油研究所孙传经同志在这方面曾做了不少的工作。他指出:

Because of its high sensitivity, small dead volume, linear dynamic range, and to some extent the operating conditions are not demanding, so very popular with people, is widely used. Commonly referred to as hydrogen flame ionization detector, refers to the use of nitrogen as a carrier gas hydrogen diffusion flame, its performance has been a lot of information, and is for people to master. However, there are few reports of hydrogen as the carrier gas in this detector. Sun Chuanjing, Shandong Institute of Chemical and Petroleum, has done a lot of work in this area. He pointed out:
