昆虫性激素是由昆虫体内释放出来用以引诱同种异性昆虫前来交配的物质,小地老虎性诱剂的诱芯含有小地老虎雌性激素,将雄蛾诱来自投罗网。因雄蛾数量减少,雌蛾的交配率则下降,从而使所产卵未受精而不能孵化成幼虫。湖南省经作局组织利用小地老虎性诱剂防治蔬菜小地老虎,获得好的防治效果,1988年推广面积5万多亩,1989年计划推广12万亩以上。诱来的雄蛾是否已交配,众说纷纭,故其防治效果除检查断苗率外,还应检查雌蛾
