上泥盆统写经寺组在鄂西、湘西分布广泛,是本区主要含铁地层之一,以含“宁乡式”铁矿著称。在写经寺组泥灰岩以上还普遍发育一套含菱铁矿的地层,矿层层位较稳定,分布颇广,有的地方构成具有一定工业意义的矿床。但菱铁矿层时代归属问题仍有不同的意见。鄂西、湘西上泥盆统植物化石,在以往的文献报道中多局限于上泥盆统黄家磴组,而上泥盆统写经寺组则报道尚少。笔者于1971年夏随同我所鄂西组野外工作期间,在鄂西宜昌
The Upper Devonian Scripture Sutra Formation is widely distributed in western Hubei and western Hunan and is one of the major iron-bearing strata in this area, known as the “Ningxiang type” iron ore mine. Above the written metamorphic marl, there is also commonly developed a siderite containing strata, the ore layer is more stable, the distribution is quite wide, and some places constitute a certain industrial significance of the deposit. However, the ownership of siderite age still have different opinions. Upper Devonian plant fossils in western Hubei and western Hunan are mostly confined to the Upper Paleo-Upper Huangjiaba Formation in the previous literature, while Upper Devonian Scripture Jingtu Formation reports little. The author in the summer of 1971 with the West Group I work in the field, Yichang in western Hubei
