新课程改革是社会发展在文化层面的反映,是对原有体制的反思和改善。但在这一新兴模式的转变过程中,将对现存的应试教育、传统教学和教师形成很大的挑战。传统初中英语教学目标侧重于提高学生的考试成绩、记忆能力等,对全体学生一视同仁;而新课改却强调既要完善基本素质教育,又能使学生的个性、能力得到最大程度的发展,且特别强调知识的实践性。为了应对这一变化,初中英语教学重点必须做出相应调整。
