Last year, the Netherlands had 860,000 employees (one-sixth of the total number of employees) declared “disabled”, and two-thirds of them were considered “psychic disability” workers (nervous overstress). According to official sources, the number of “disabled employees” in the Netherlands is increasing at an annual rate of 100,000; if no emergency measures are taken, by 1993 there will be 1 million employees who have not reached retirement age and leave early. The opposition parties fear that in the long run, the Dutch economy will be threatened with collapse. The Prime Minister of the Netherlands stated: “If this situation is not resolved resolutely, I will resign.” So what causes such “disabled workers”? (I) In the early 1980s, some business owners had “mental disability.”
