Penicillin, the first broad-spectrum antibiotic discovered by human beings, nobody would be stupid enough to deny its remarkable contribution to humankind. However, there was still controversy over how to appraise the achievements of its discoverers, Alexander Fleming. From his lifetime was talented until after death as a free-fall like a straight drop to the “lottery winners”, “stormed”, “medical history, the most lucky researcher ” and so on, saying One and enough. The controversy stems mainly from the “Fleming Biography” by Macfarlane in 1984. This biography according to China’s popular statement, probably named “Fleming down the altar” category. In 1987, some people even published an article in The Times saying that Fleming could find penicillin because he was lazy and unimpressed. Is it true?
