The Danish aquarium was opened to the public in 1939, but World War II broke out in just 4 months and remained open for 7 months until Denmark was occupied and eventually closed. The post-war aquarium was facing a terrible situation, and the founder Knud Hjgaard had extensively refurbished it. In the following decade, the building has undergone several modern transformations and expansion projects. For more than 73 years, the original aquarium was an entertainment and educational facility for people of all ages. However, in the new situation, a series of requests for aquarium expansion and high-end technologies have gradually been put on the agenda.
