A team led by researchers from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Silkworm Insect Agro-Technology Research Institute announced that they have developed a microbial pesticide that can kill pests. Overwintering insects are often excluded from the ice nuclei in the intestine, while storing the polyvalent alcohols and sugars, thus protecting against freezing temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius. Ice nucleation active bacteria are plant frostbite bacteria, which play a role in making water start freezing ice nuclei.
