作为公道的正义是巴利社会正义论的核心范畴。巴利在阐明作为公道的正义理论时,主要依托于相互冲突的自身之善的观念,提出以共同认可的理性协议为彼此矛盾的化解提供必要的解决之道。这一理论拒绝承认某一社会单一权威性的善的存在,也否认将行为主体的利益与所关切之物置于首位,强调以理性、中立、公平的方式提议解决不同甚或相互冲突的道德体系的存在,并为人们不偏不倚的行事设定正义规则,创建正义环境。当前,深入研究巴利的作为公道的正义理论,具有十分重要的理论价值与现实意义。
