山西是我国华北的强震活动区,历史上多次发生强烈地震.其中临汾地区的地震活动具有破坏性大和复发性强的特点,自公元649年至1813年曾先后发生7度至11度地震9次以上.临汾地区自1695年发生10度地震以来,至今已近300年尚未发生大于8度的地震,当地的地下岩层已有较充分的愈合时间,目前存在发生强震的危险.了解和认识1695年临汾地震序列活动特征,对判断今后可能在该地发生的地震类型具有实际意义.作者收集10余条记有该次序列余震情况的资料,根据地震烈度伤衰减距离,利用经验公式将地震烈度转换成相应震级,编制M—T图,显示出明显的主震型特点.据现有资料,其有感余震持续时间约10年左右,较1303年洪洞11度地震的余震持续4年时间短.
