In September 2007, China obtained the approval of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), formally joined the International Rice Commission (IRC), and designated China National Rice Research Institute as the contact and work unit after China’s accession to IRC. The International Rice Commission established in 1949 is the United Nations Food and Agriculture
