格奥尔格·伊格尔斯是当今享誉全球的史学理论及史学史家。他的作品早在20世纪60年代初便已被介绍到中国来,但由于当时史学界的封闭状况,并未赢得足够的注意。1980年代以来,由于伊格尔斯深厚的理论素养以及高度的概括力,他的多部著作,不论在学术史的知识方面,还是在学术研究的预设、视野和方法方面,都为中国史学界提供了许多有益的东西,十分契合了新时期中国史学界了解西方新史学发展的需要,遂引起广泛的关注和欢迎。尽管长期从事西方史学和史学史的研究,但他对非西方国家,包括中国史学一直抱着一种尊重、客观、平等的态度,并将整个身心都投入到发展历史研究的事业中,这种敬业的精神值得我们敬佩与学习。
Georg Igers is the world-renowned historical theory and historian of history.
