Important file security and off-site backup in the new era was put on the agenda, from the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake brought us lessons and enlightenment. At that time, part of the disaster-hit Beichuan file was outdated and was left standing for too long in the harsh environment of high temperature and humidity, causing the extreme phenomenon of a mushroom that grew 20-30 mm in size day and night. This result not only prompts China’s archival departments to expedite the formulation of the “Preplan for Natural Disaster Prevention”, but also urges archival department leaders to take backup of important archives off-site as an important task that can not be ignored now and in the future.
