In foreign language classroom teaching, because students do not have a lot of opportunities for language exchange, teachers’ questions can create the most basic communication conditions for them. As a result, questions are seen as one of the most important forms of classroom interaction in communicative teaching. The Basic Requirements for Teaching English Curriculum of Higher Vocational Education promulgated by the Ministry of Education in 2000 put forward explicit requirements on the students’ ability of applying English, especially their oral communicative competence. However, in teaching, I found that students’ language communication ability in higher vocational colleges is not optimistic. The study focused on how English classroom teachers’ classroom questions affect classroom interaction through classroom observation. Based on the research results, the author puts forward some constructive suggestions that have practical significance to English teaching in higher vocational colleges.
