单班教学工作比较繁复,必须充分运用助手。助手可能做的工作,如:收发簿本用品、保管教具、写小黑板,领导同学在课堂上运用卡片进行认写数字、演算、认写生字、默字,维持同学独立工作的秩序,领导同学进行课外活动,解决同学间所发生的临时问题等。适当地运用助手,可以节省教师的精力和时间,来全面地照顾儿重的学习和生活。这不仅可以增进教学效果,同时也可以锻鍊儿童做事的能力。
