On November 9, Malaysian Defense Minister Ahmed Zahid Al-Hamidi announced in the lower house of parliament that there have been fewer Chinese ethnics joining the Malaysian army in recent years, and that Chinese people may lack patriotism. His allegations of racial discrimination immediately sparked strong resentment in Malaysian politics and minority ethnic groups, including ethnic Chinese. So, is Malaysian Chinese really lack of patriotic enthusiasm? Why do they not want to join the army? What is the survival of their army in Malaysia in the end?
