In this paper, the genetic variation range, heritability estimation and introgression of 27 barley traits were introduced.The ideal barley type composed of 14 traits and the breeding objectives of each trait were described.When the breeding target is The ideal plant type breeding can be used as a method to broaden the traditional plant breeding when increasing the heritability of yield.Experiences and researches on breeding so far show that the ideal plant type breeding can not replace traditional yield breeding.
