基督教的追随者称颂圣徒的生活及其所有一切事物。人们崇拜圣徒的神圣及其特殊的力量。从公元4世纪,或者可能还要更早一些,基督徒就会保存圣徒的尸体和物品,相信圣徒神奇的力量会遗留在这些遗物当中。这种信仰认为这些物品经过基督触摸,所以可以治愈病患。圣徒的物品也是世间的人和天空中神的联系。朝圣者来到圣徒的神殿参拜,神殿里有圣徒的遗物,朝圣者在那里祈祷,希望能够得到天庭中圣徒的帮助。
Christian followers praise the life of the saints and all their things. People worship the sacred sanctity and its special power. From the 4th century AD, or perhaps even earlier, Christians preserve the bodies and objects of the saints, believing that the magical powers of the saints will be left behind in these relics. The belief that these objects are touched by Christ can heal the sick. The saints’ belongings are also the connection between the worlds and the gods in the sky. Pilgrims come to visit the temple of the saints, there is a relic of saints in the temple, where pilgrims pray, hoping to get the help of saints in heaven.
