数理统计在地质勘探工作中的应用已有三十余年历史.由于学者们对矿体地质数值之性质所持意见不同,因而数理统计在矿床勘探中之应用至今仍为争论之问题.但近年来,在地质勘探界中对数理统计持完全否定意见者已日益减少,而结合矿体地质特点,探讨其在勘探中之合理应用条件者则不断增加.越来越多的资料表明,数理统计已成为深入探讨勘探理论和解决勘探生产实际问题所必不可少的方法之一.在已有的地质勘探文献中,尚未见有利用数理统计方法直接探讨矿床合理勘探手段的报导.至于勘探工程合理间距的数学分析法,则大都以首先确定矿体某标志或整个矿体的变化系数为基础.作者等在研究某矿床之勘探方法时,曾试用数理统计方法探讨矿床合理勘探手段问题.此外,还可利用这方法作为分析合理工程间距的辅助手段.
