读黄惇近期书作,眼前为之一亮,心中为之一震,使人激动。我以为他的书法已进入“从心所欲不逾矩”、“通会之际,人书俱老”的新境界。新境界也即是一种新气象。这“气象”二字并非泛泛之誉,王国维评:“太白纯以气象胜,西风残照,汉家陵阙,寥寥八字,独有千古!”就诗而论,李白与杜甫比较,杜甫以功夫胜,李白则以气象胜,这并不是说李白不重功夫,而是说李白的功夫在于自然天成。黄惇近期书法并不以雕龙镂凤的效果动人,其动人处正如李白之诗的自然天成。这气象,可感而不可状,可会而不可言,依于形而又超乎形。

The recent calligraphy of Huangpi is not moving with the effect of carving dragonfly, and its touching place is just as natural as Li Bai’s poem. This meteorological, can not feel sensible, but can not say, according to shape and beyond the shape.
