According to a study by Scientia Horticulturae (April 2012), researchers from the Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences University in Vienna, Austria, studied the polyphenol content of grape leaves at different leaf ages and internodes under controlled conditions. The researchers investigated 16 polyphenolic substances in three leaf age grape leaf samples, of which 12 polyphenols exceeded quantitative targets with the highest caffeic acid content. LC-MS / MS was used to study the content of individual polyphenols in different leaf positions on stems. It was found that the content of cis-and trans-resveratrol -3-O-glucoside, (+) - catechin, caffeic acid, Glucoside-3-O-glucoside and quercitrin-3-O-glucuronide are the major polyphenols of at least 3 to 4 leaf positions with varying levels.
