萧山这块土地,就像远古神话传说中的“息壤”般生生不息。勤劳的萧山人,用智慧和汗水甚至生命的代价,与汹涌澎湃的钱江潮作不懈的斗争,与荷兰的围海造地一样,萧山围垦令世人瞩目,被联合国粮农组织官员称为“人类造地史上的奇迹”。欣欣向荣的围垦区,是萧山人改造自然、利用自然造福子孙后代的一大壮举。由此诞生了“奔竞不息、永立潮头”的萧山精神。令萧山活力四射,荣登2004中国十强县第七位。——题记
