Alcoa announced it intends to spend $ 1.5 billion (also some $ 1.3 billion) on the acquisition of RTI International (“RTI”) titanium supplier. Eighty percent of the company’s business is focused on aerospace and defense, as well as the production of semi-finished titanium and titanium alloys for energy and medical applications. This acquisition will be the final step in Alcoa’s diversification efforts to develop high value-added products and will strengthen its position in the global aerospace market.
