1861年4月,美国爆发内战。尽管南北双方实力相差悬殊,但战争的进程异常残酷。北方联邦军力量虽强却屡战屡败。战争拖延了整整5个年头,南军才告投降。普遍认为,北方最终取胜在于其拥有雄厚的工业资源和人力资源,特别是黑人作为自由人参战对于北方获胜关系重大。本文所讲述的是黑人在战争期间另一个鲜为人知的战场上的杰出贡献。
In April 1861, a civil war broke out in the United States. Despite the disparities in strength between the two sides, the course of the war is extremely cruel. Although the strength of the Northern Federal Army has repeatedly defeated. The war was delayed by a full five years before the southern army surrendered. It is generally believed that the ultimate victory of the North lies in its strong industrial and human resources. In particular, the participation of blacks in the war as a free man is of great significance to the victory of the North. What this article describes is the outstanding contribution of the Negro in the other, less known, battlefield of the war.
