Arnold Berleant is a professor of philosophy at Long Island University in New York, the internationally acclaimed esthetician and an outstanding pianist. He is now Secretary General of the International Society of Aesthetics. He has published numerous books such as Aesthetics, Environmental Aesthetics, Art and Participation, and his theory of environmental aesthetics has had a huge impact in some European countries. On October 18, 1993, Professor Buriente invited visiting Institute of Aesthetics, Zhejiang University, to visit Hangzhou to give lectures.
