Patrick Modiano is one of the most important contemporary writers in France, winner of the 2014 Nobel Prize in Literature. Modiano’s works are generally narrative texts, but they also possess the basic characteristics of lyric genres, including emphasizing the musicality and subjectivity of the texts and the structure of lyric talk. These characteristics make Modiano’s text go beyond the dimensions of self-fiction, trauma writing or memory writing, showing a strong poetic effect and forming a unique Mohsian style called “little music” . An examination of this lyric trait helps deepen the understanding of the form, theme, and artistry of Modiano’s work.
