(北京:中国传媒大学出版社,2007年版)泰米尔语(Tamil),新加坡华语译作淡米尔语,是一种有着超过两千年历史的语言,属于达罗毗荼(Dravidian)语系,主要通行于印度南部、斯里兰卡东北部。它是印度泰米尔纳德邦的通用语,同时也是印度22种国家宪法承认的语言之一,并为斯里兰卡、马来西亚及新加坡的官方语言之一,于南非亦有宪法地位;另外在印度洋及南太平洋岛屿中,不少印度裔居民也是说泰米尔语的,他们散布于马达加斯加、毛里塔尼亚、斐济等国。根据统计,在1996年,泰米尔语在全球的语言人口中排第18位,有语言人口7400万人。此外,泰米尔语于2004年被印度政府定为古典语言,这是获得该地位的第一个印度语言。《泰米尔语教程》(一、二)是泰米尔语教科书首次在中国正式出版。全书分为两册,
