近年来,信息在教育、科技以及工农业发展中的重要性日益突现出来,并已逐步渗透到了社会生活的各个方面。人们也越来越注重并开始运用先进的技术手段获取信息、利用信息。信息技术的普及和人们对信息需求的增加,对信息的重要载体和承担着信息服务功能的图书馆提出了新的要求,特别是对作为社会信息的重要集散地公共图书馆而言,如何才能提高信息服务质量、充分发挥信息服务功能,业已成为图书馆员必须思考的问题。
