李白于唐玄宗天宝元年(742)秋应诏入长安。《旧唐书·文苑传》、《新唐书·文艺传》都说李白这次是“待诏翰林”、“供奉翰林”。李白后来所作的《为宋中丞自荐表》,也自称“翰林供奉李白”。可见李白于天宝元年秋至天宝三载(744)春,是作为翰林供奉在长安任职的。李白这几年在长安,是感到很荣耀的。他很早就有“拜一京官”的想法,但一直未有机会,只能漫游各地,“少年落托楚汉间,风尘萧瑟
