Objective: To investigate the changes and significance of serum interleukin-2 (IL-2) in patients with stroke at the onset of acute stage. Methods: Thirty-four patients with ischemic stroke (including 22 acute cerebral infarction, 12 transient ischemic attack (TIA)), 29 hemorrhagic stroke patients and healthy controls were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) In the IL-2 content. Results: The levels of IL-2 in acute cerebral infarction and intracerebral hemorrhage were significantly lower than those in normal control group (P <0.01, P <0.05), while those in TIA group were slightly lower than those in normal control group. Conclusion: IL- 2 levels in patients with acute stroke prompted decreased immune function, and neuro-immune-endocrine network structure and dysfunction, and there may be a two-way regulatory role.
