1 Preface It is still an essential means for engineering geological prospecting to extract cores and collect geotechnical samples by drilling to identify and classify strata and to determine the physical and mechanical properties of geotechnical formations or directly test them in-situ. With the rapid development of the utilization of underground space, subway, tunnel, urban underground passage, undersea tunnel and so on put forward higher requirements for engineering geological investigation, directional or horizontal
