In early June 1980, after we went to the United States to attend the Fire Technical Conference of the International Organization for Standardization, we were invited to visit the passenger aircraft maintenance department of the U.S.Airport San Francisco International Airport. The maintenance department includes several maintenance hangars, the largest of which is dedicated to the maintenance of giant passenger aircraft.
