晚清时先后到达古巴的华工达12万之多,但在19世纪末活下来的仅4万余。他们在古巴过着悲苦的生活。1879年,中国派驻古巴领事抵达哈瓦那。中国领事对海外华人的合法权益起到了一定的保护作用,古巴华人的境况得到改善。本文试图对中国驻古巴领事所采取的改善华人境遇的措施进行阐述,从而对比华人在此前后境况的变化。
In the late Qing Dynasty, as many as 120,000 Chinese workers arrived in Cuba, only 40,000 survived in the late 19th century. They live a miserable life in Cuba. In 1879, China’s consular embassy in Cuba arrived in Havana. The consul of China has played a protective role in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese, and the situation of Chinese in Cuba has been improved. This article attempts to elaborate on the measures taken by the Chinese consul in Cuba to improve the situation of Chinese people and thus compare the changes in the Chinese context before and after.
