In order to protect our marine environment and at the same time transform the relevant provisions of international conventions into national laws and regulations through national legislative procedures, our country’s marine dumping legislation is being stepped up. The “Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China (Trial)” passed in 1979 raised the concept of “dumping” in domestic legislation for the first time.
