由中国科学院资源与环境信息系统国家重点实验室主办的第三届国际地理信息系统学术讨论会(IWGIS)于1993年8月19日至22日在北京召开,来自美国、德国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚、日本、中国等13个国家和地区近180名代表参加了会议,其中海外代表57位。世界著名的地理信息系统专家王之卓教授、陈述彭教授、G.Konecny教授、Shunji Murai教授、Barry J.Garner教授等在大会上作了报告。中国科学院周光召院长为大会题词,中国科学院胡启恒副院长、国家自然科学基金委员会胡兆森副主任、孙枢副主任应邀出席会议,并作了重要讲话。
The 3rd International Symposium on Geographic Information Systems (IWGIS), hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information Systems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Beijing from August 19 to 22, 1993. The participants from the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Nearly 180 representatives from 13 countries and regions including Australia, Japan and China attended the conference, of which 57 were overseas representatives. Professor Wang Zhizhu, Professor Chen Shupeng, Professor G. Konecny, Professor Shunji Murai and Professor Barry J. Garner, world famous GIS experts, made a speech at the conference. President Zhou Guangzhao, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered an inscription for the conference. Hu Qixeng, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Hu Zhaosen, deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, were invited to attend the conference and delivered an important speech.
