碧玉有颜色纯正的墨绿色、色润如菠菜者,其绿又有鹦哥绿、松花绿、白果绿等名目,质地透光细腻,坚韧。上好的碧玉色如翡翠,粗看易与翡翠相混,一般深绿色比暗绿色好,最忌绿色中含闪灰。有的碧玉质地不太均匀、洁净,有黑斑和玉筋,黑色星点的特征和在灯下照耀绿会失色的特点,碧玉矿石呈暗绿色, 块状,微至半透明,油脂光泽。碧玉矿石的主要成份为毡状透闪石。
