As we all know, the higher level earthquakes in western China often occur in deep cutting topography areas with high rock mass strength. Therefore, the prediction and prevention of post-earthquake secondary disaster hazards are particularly important and have obvious guiding significance for earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in the future. This paper takes the author’s practice in G213 Yingxiu to Wenchuan Highway emergency rescue work as an example, conducts a great deal of investigation on the hazards caused by the collapse in the earthquake zone and the implementation of protective measures. Combining with the geological environment in the earthquake zone, The development of dangerous rock mass and the movement law of the collapse body are analyzed, the potential danger is predicted, and the review on the protective measures is put forward.
