本文作者扶永发现为云南省测绘局地图制图工程师。1962年他从武汉测绘学院毕业后,一直从事地图测绘工作,对长江、黄河流域的地理十分熟悉。扶永发的业余爱好是钻研古书,并写出了大量有见地的论文,特别是他以现代地理和地图学知识为基础,在对我国古代著名地理著作《山海经》进行深入研究后,提出了今日云南西部地区是我国历史黎明时期的炎帝、黄帝和尧、舜、禹等中华民族的祖先生活的地方,由此论证了中华文化的原始发祥地区在滇西的观点。《中国测绘报》等报刊曹对此进行报道。《汉水源头考》是扶永发结合地理地图知识,并利用出差等机会进行实地考察后写出的又一篇力作,现由本刊首次发表,以飨读者。
