Using two-year ’Wanglin’ apple as test material, the regulation of salicylic acid (SA) on the level of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in apple leaves and its mechanism were studied. The results showed that 0.25 ~ 10.0 mmol·L-1 SA significantly increased the level of H2O2 in leaves, not only because SA inhibited the activity of catalase (CAT), but inhibited the degradation of H2O2 to accumulate, SA increased the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and promoted the disproportionation reaction of superoxide anion (O-2) to H2O2, thus increasing the production of H2O2. SA also induced specific peroxidase (POD) isoenzymes, which may also be related to the accumulation of H2O2
