2011年3月19日,陆士嘉先生百年诞辰纪念会在北京航空航天大学如心会议中心举行.陆士嘉先生是新中国流体力学专业的奠基人之一.在旧中国积弱贫穷、落后挨打的年代,她怀抱科技强国、科技救国的梦想,半工半读就读于北京师范大学物理系,然后毅然选择航空的先行与基础学科——流体力学,远赴重洋,以优异成绩和卓越才华,破除了当时对华人和对女性的双重偏见,获得了现代流体力学大师和奠基者之一的普朗特的赞赏,成为大师唯一的女研究生和唯一的中国学生;她担任了北航建校筹委会委员,为创建北航做出了贡献;她以前瞻性的国际眼光,参加了我国第二个科学发展规划的制定工作,对我国流体力学学科和航空事业的发展起了推动作用;她淡泊名利,两次恳请中国科学院从院士候选人中删除她的名字,恳请北航领导将他的一级教授提名调到二级,在科技和教育界传为佳话;她艰苦朴素,婉言谢绝学校公车接送,数十年如一日坚持乘坐公交车上班,对灾区和有困难的同事慷慨解囊且不留姓名;她是一位杰出的教育家,培养了一大批航空和力学的栋梁之材.本刊特登载陆士嘉先生的学生龙驭球院士、周恒院士、朱自强教授和李素循教授的缅怀先生的文章.她的这几位学生都已至古稀耄耋之年,成就非凡,遇事淡定,但在纪念会上,他们的声音哽咽了.师生情深,师恩似海.从先生鼓励习题的解法立异到讨论学位论文创新,从先生百忙中抽时间辅导学生自学第二外语到推荐学生到海外名家深造,从先生创建北航空气动力学教研室和研究室到与我国力学科学泰斗钱学森、郭永怀的交往合作,参与制定我国流体力学学科和航空科学发展的宏伟蓝图,从先生不知疲倦地工作到坚辞荣誉和物质利益,无不感人至深,是我国力学与航空科学发展的珍贵历史资料.天地有大美而不言,先生有大德而不说,唯其不说,浩气长存.
