Objective To investigate the value of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in the assessment of diabetic microangiopathy. Methods Ninety patients with diabetes mellitus were divided into microangiopathy group and non-microvascular disease group, with 45 cases in each group. Forty-five healthy subjects at the same time were selected as the control group. The levels of HbA1c and fasting blood glucose (FBG) were compared among the three groups. Results The levels of HbA1c and FBG in microvascular group and non-microvascular group were significantly higher than those in control group (P <0.05). There was significant difference in HbA1c and FBG levels between microvascular group and non-microvascular group Statistical significance (P <0.05). Conclusion The detection of HbA1c can provide an important clinical diagnosis basis for the early diagnosis of diabetic microvascular disease, and its application value is obvious.
