由12只“克利伯”大帆船组成的船队于2月19日从新加坡出发,驶向中国青岛,开始第9分站赛的赛程。据介绍,从新加坡到青岛的分站赛路线总长2450海里(约合4537公里),陆续在3月10日前后抵达青岛。这段众所周知的艰难赛程长达近2500海里,期间将经历温度条件从热带到零下的大幅度变化,船队也将遭遇刺骨的冬季逆风。经过台湾海峡时,预期也将遭遇到黑蛇洋流以及北风引起的潮汐风浪所带来的挑战。但是,“青岛号”的船员们无畏艰险、迎接挑战。
