李宁,壮族。8岁时被吸收进广西体操队,10岁时就成为全国少年自由体操的冠军。1981年,在第十一届世界大学生运动会上获3枚金牌;在第二十二届世界锦标赛上,他是男子团体冠军中国队的主力;1982年,他在世界体操史上写下了光辉夺目的一页,独得第六届世界杯体操赛七项比赛中的6块金牌;在第二十三届奥运会上,李宁获3块金牌、2块银牌、1块铜牌,是本届奥运会获奖牌最多的运动员。
