Today’s power supplies, whether used in labs, systems or in-machine, have better performance, more features, and a smaller footprint than previous products. At the same time, manufacturers must keep their prices down and their quality constantly improving to remain competitive. Providing quality products requires a complete design validation to ensure that the performance of the power supply operates as expected throughout the entire expected operating range, even if part values deviate from the standard. The more exhaustive these validation tests, the less likely it is that the number of dissatisfied products, high diagnostic costs, and unacceptable field failure rates due to changes in components or processes.
