词语是文化信息的载体,各种文化特征都在本族语言的词汇里留下了它们的印记。政治制度、风俗习惯、宗教、地理环境等对语言意义的影响主要表现在词语的附加意义和情感色彩上。对于英语新闻学习者来说,与本族文化内涵相似的词汇比较容易理解和掌握,但却容易忽视那些具有与本民族不同文化内涵的词汇。因此,必须重视中西方词语文化内涵的差异。
Words are the carriers of cultural information, and various cultural features have left their mark in the vocabulary of native languages. The influence of political system, customs, religion and geographical environment on the meaning of language is mainly reflected in the additional meaning and emotional color of words. For English news learners, words that are similar to their own cultural connotations are easier to understand and grasp, but it is easy to overlook those words that have different cultural connotations with their own nation. Therefore, we must pay attention to the differences between the connotation of Chinese and Western words and cultures.
