Today, self-heating smelting of sulfide raw materials has been widely used in industrial production. Moscow Steel Institute of Heavy Metallurgical Division proposed a new liquid pool self-heating melting method (referred to as molten pool melting). They conducted research and design in the last ten years, together with Kazakhstan Nonferrous Metal Research Institute and other units in Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Company, Balhashi Mining and Metallurgical Company and Ryazan
