As of 11 April this year, 41,699 cases of meningitis were reported in Africa, of which 4,498 were dead. These cases mainly come from the West African countries where the epidemic is constantly occurring. Of the 16,775 cases in Burkina Faso reported among these cases, 1,953 were deaths, accounting for 40% of the total, and 13,160 were reported to have died in Ghana, accounting for 31% of all reported cases; 6,119 cases were reported in Mali 587 deaths, accounting for 15% of all reported. Also reported are Benin (273 cases, 47 deaths), Gambia (856 cases, 119 deaths), Niger (1,813 cases, 587 deaths), Rwanda
