王际真对《红楼梦》的英译总共出版了结构和内容各不相同的三个文本,即1929年版39回本、1958年版60回本及其40回节略本。在具体描述这三个不同译本构成特征的基础上,本文分别概述了它们各自衍生的转译本:由1929年版39回英译本转译的是博尔赫斯的西班牙文摘译,由1958年版40回英译本转译的是首次成书的泰译本,由1958年版60回本于次年再版的英译本转译的是迄今唯一的希腊文译本。王际真英译本不但体现了20世纪前中期英语世界《红楼梦》传播和接受的主要轨迹,而且开拓了《红楼梦》在西班牙语、希腊语和泰语世界的流传。
Wang Jizhen published a total of three versions of the English version of A Dream of Red Mansions with different structures and contents, namely, the 1929 edition of 39 editions, the 1958 edition of 60 editions and the 40th edition of the same. Based on the characterization of these three different translations, the paper summarizes their respective translations: The 19th edition of 39 English translations translated Borges’ Spanish translation from the 1958 edition of 40 English The translated version is the first Thai translation of the book, translated from the 1958 edition of 60 copies in the next reprint of the English translation is the only translation of the Greek text so far. The translation of Wang Zhenzhen’s English version not only reflects the main trajectory of the spread and acceptance of the “Dream of Red Mansions” in the English-speaking world before the mid-20th century, but also opens up the spread of “Dream of Red Mansions” in the Spanish, Greek and Thai languages.
